Elite Fishn
Elite Fishn is a premium fishing platform combining AI-powered species identification via computer vision, GPS spot mapping, tournament management, and a passionate angler community — giving serious fishers the intelligent companion their sport deserves.
We built the full iOS and Android experience including the computer vision model trained on 500+ fish species, from data collection and labelling through to on-device inference optimised for real-time use in low-light riverside conditions.
The Challenge
Turning Centuries of Fishing Wisdom Into Intelligent Technology
Experienced anglers relied on generations of knowledge passed verbally, sketched on handwritten maps, and lost when guides retired. The client wanted to digitise and democratise this knowledge — creating a platform where fish species could be identified instantly via phone camera, fishing spots mapped with environmental data, and tournament results tracked in real time.
The engineering challenge was training a computer vision model accurate enough for 500+ species across wildly varying lighting conditions — from pre-dawn rivers to bright midday oceans. We also needed the model to run on-device for instant results without requiring a signal in remote locations.
We needed a CV model that worked at 5am on a dark riverbank — not just in a well-lit lab. That constraint drove every architecture decision we made.

Fishers are the original data scientists — they track seasons, depths, tides, and temperatures. Our job was to put that rigour into software without making them feel like they were using software.
